The ECM-801 may be for snap acceleration testing procedures described in SAE J1667 in the Clean Truck Check (CTC) and Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). The product was launched in 2024. Note that the manufacturer has not said it is compliant, but that it can perform the snap acceleration test.

ECM-801 opacity smoke meter is used to measure the exhaust smoke of diesel engine vehicles, with mainly truck, bus and car. Includes a hand-held remote controller for complete portability testing within a car, bus or truck.
