BAR-Approved Biometric Palm Vein Scanner Kit

BAR's announcement to include biometric requirements including the palm vein scanner kit has created a lot of uncertainty among smog test and repair shops in California. Reduce the stress of a product that doesn't work from other vendors, and eliminate the potential for being locked out of doing smog checks by purchasing an Emissions Depot BAR-Approved Biometric Palm Vein Scanner Kit, which is backed by the Emissions Depot guarantee and also backed by Emissions Depot Remote Support (EDRS) to help with any installation issues.

This device is going to be required by BAR in 2023 for all Smog Check Inspection Stations in California. The anticipated ship date is December 2022, before the BAR-OIS biometric software update in middle to late January 2023 that will make the system compatible, and well ahead of the (as of yet unannounced) enforcement start date. This device is a California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) approved biometric device for smog testing; it is compatible with the BAR-OIS web-application system once they release the BAR-OIS biometric software update in November; it is guaranteed to work and comply with the California smog test biometric verification program. 

The kit includes one (1) BAR-Approved Biometric palm vein scanner kit, and shops will need one for each OIS machine.

We will keep you updated as we receive more updates on the smog check biometric requirements; our understanding at the moment is that all smog check stations will need to install a biometric palm vein scanner for each BAR-OIS machine. Technicians will be able to register for an appointment at a BAR field office after October 1st, 2022. According to BAR, failure to comply by the enforcement date will mean you will not be able to run smog tests.

There is a 2-year manufacturer warranty, and a Limited Return Policy following the delivery of the product. Returns are accepted within 10 days of product delivery. After 10 days from product delivery, a 15% handling and restocking fee is applied to any returns. Shipping costs will be deducted from the refund.

The bundle includes the palm vein scanner, hand-guide, and USB cable.
